Paul Rogers

Musical Director

Paul Rogers, KCC Musical Director, founded Kishwaukee Children’s Chorus in 2008.  Mr. Rogers is currently the Associate Minister of Worship and Music at the Evangelical Free Church of Sycamore-DeKalb and has been actively involved in teaching music to children for over 20 years.  Mr. Rogers has earned Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Northern Illinois University and a Doctor of Worship Studies degree from the Institute for Worship Studies.

As a child, Mr. Rogers was a member of the Hawaii Children’s Chorus in Honolulu, HI.  His fond memories of singing in the chorus are part of his vision for KCC.  Under the direction of Wanda Gereben, the Hawaii Children’s Chorus grew to approximately 200 people.  While Mr. Rogers was a member of the chorus, he performed numerous concerts with the ensemble including an appearance with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra in The Nutcracker Ballet.

Mr. Rogers’ musical background includes performing extensively as a concert pianist with his twin brother, Peter, as a duo-piano team in over a dozen states.  He has won numerous awards including first prize in the Richmond Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, third prize at the Ellis National Duo-Piano Competition sponsored by the National Federation of Music Clubs, and was a finalist in the StarSong National New Artist Search performing live on national television.  His performances have been featured on South Carolina Public Television, TV38 in Chicago, and The Family Channel.  He has appeared with several orchestras including the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Youth Symphony, and the York River Symphony Orchestra.  Mr. Rogers has released one CD recording of sacred piano music which has been broadcast nationally on WMBI.  He has taught music to students of all ages through the Northern Illinois University’s Community Music School since 1989.

As both musician and pastor, Mr. Rogers’ vision is to impact the children of DeKalb county through musical and spiritual growth and to inspire excellence in all areas of life.  He believes that this can be accomplished through choral music performance.
